Our Korec Corso kennel is also focusing on projects regarding genetics and longevity of Cane Corso Italiano. Our aim is a prolongation of age at death of Cane Corso dog breed using appropriate breeding<\/strong>. Our team is led by Ev\u017een Korec, MSc., Ph.D., owner of Korec Corso kennel. In a cooperation with Cane Corso kennels from 25 countries all over the world, we achieved for the first time to determine a median age at death of Cane Corso dogs on a statistically significant group. During our research, we also discovered certain connections which will help to prolong the lifespan of Cane Corso dogs<\/strong>. The article summarizing all our findings was published on June 13th<\/sup>, 2017, in an international scientific journal Open Veterinary Journal. You can find and download the manuscript HERE<\/a><\/strong>. Our research is also focused on mapping genes responsible for dog\u2019s longevity.<\/p>\n

The programme\u2019s goal is<\/strong> a long-term observation of long-lived dogs of this breed (more than 12 years old) on a statistically significant group, a collection and evaluation of information about their state of health and especially an identification of genes responsible for longevity of Cane Corso dogs.<\/strong> We isolate DNA from cells collected by a mouth mucosa smear of each dog in our research programme. This DNA samples enable to analyse genes responsible for longevity.<\/p>\n
